Perth based buyer’s agency Beagl has welcomed the strong industry response to REIWA’s newly introduced buyer’s agent CPD training course, with nearly 50 participants already registered for the inaugural program.
The course, “Acting as a Buyer’s Agent: Roles and Responsibilities”, has been developed following significant advocacy and input from the REIWA Buyer’s Agent Network Committee, a committee focused on lifting standards, education and professionalism across the rapidly growing buyer’s agency sector in Western Australia.
Veteran Perth real estate professional and Beagl Director, Barry Pound, who has over 37 years’ experience in the WA property industry and serves on the REIWA Buyer’s Agent Network Committee, said the strong early interest in the course highlighted the growing recognition of the important role buyer’s agents now play in the property market.
“This is a significant step forward for the WA property industry,” Mr Pound said.
“For many years, buyers in WA have largely navigated the purchasing process alone, often dealing with highly experienced selling agents without having professional representation on their side.”
“The introduction of formal CPD training specifically for buyer’s agents represents a new beginning for the acceptance of the important role buyer’s agents play and a major step toward increased professionalism within the sector.”
The course covers key areas including buyer representation, negotiations, authority agreements, auctions, private treaty purchases, inspections, REIWA documentation and managing the buyer journey from initial brief through to settlement.
Mr Pound said the industry was now seeing greater demand from consumers wanting experienced representation during one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
